Zogby Poll: Inflation starving 3 in 10 of daily meals

High inflation on food is forcing 3 in 10 families to skip meals, according to an eye-opening new survey of the impact of increasing prices.

Double-digit surges in the prices of basics such as milk and eggs and bread have forced 29.3% to miss meals, especially among the poor and young, according to a new Zogby Poll just shared with Secrets.

In his analysis, pollster Jonathan Zogby said that inflation on many items of daily use, including food and energy, is hollowing out the middle class and that the Biden team, which has dubbed the crisis a “high-class problem,” isn’t doing enough to control it.

“Food insecurity is becoming increasingly too familiar these days. As the gap between the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ widens, more and more Americans are finding it harder to meet ends daily,” he said.

“Families are missing meals because their paychecks do not go as far as they once did a few years ago. The middle class is being hollowed out by inflation. We asked voters if they felt the Biden administration’s failure to control inflation had caused them or family members to miss meals because of the increased cost of food prices, and the results were shocking,” he added.

Overall, 65.7% said they haven’t been forced to skip a meal, and 5% were not sure.

Zogby said that President Joe Biden needs to address the issue of growing inflation fast.

“While the Biden administration has said inflation is temporary, many economists and analysts see inflation as here to stay. The massive amounts of stimulus injected into the system are driving up prices and making people quit jobs, which is contributing to labor and food shortages. The saying goes, ‘If you break it, you own it.’ President Biden needs to recognize it first before he can own it, and then fix it,” he said.
