#MenToo: A Global Campaign

‘Tell them, ‘I, Johnny Depp, a man, I’m a victim of domestic abuse’ and see how many people believe or side with you” — Amber Heard

Within hours after the Depp-Heard trial verdict was announced on June 1, the #MenToo hashtag began to trend on Twitter. A Google search on “#MenToo” and “domestic violence” turns up over one million results. The global #MenToo campaign seeks to ensure that male victims of domestic violence are heard, believed, and have equal access to services. The campaign also is highlighting the problem of false abuse allegations against men.

TAKE ACTION

  1. Contact your lawmakers and demand that male victims are fully recognized by domestic violence legislation.
  2. Assure that domestic violence education and training programs are factually accurate regarding the extent of male victimization.
  3. Assure that DV providers provide necessary outreach and services for male victims.
