Tributes have been paid to a football fan who collapsed and died in front of family and friends while celebrating Harry Kane’s goal.

Hillingdon resident Charlie Naughton collapsed as the England captain scored the Three Lion’s second goal against Germany at Wembley Stadium in the Euros.

The Chelsea and England fan had been enjoying the game in his local pub surrounded by family and friends when he died on Tuesday (June 29).

Despite the emergency services best efforts the 29-year-old passed away three hours later.

A tribute post to Charlie shared on social media reads: “Our darling boy Charlie was suddenly taken from us on Tuesday as Harry Kane scored the second goal for England.

“He was watching the football in his local pub surrounded by family and friends when he suddenly collapsed.

“This poignant moment in British history that will be remembered by all but for all of Charlie’s family and friends this will be the most devastating time of their lives.

“As you support and celebrate England through their journey at the Euros please raise a glass to our Charlie, with a blue heart and Three Lions on his chest.”

England and Chelsea star sends condolences

Tributes and condolences have flooded in from across the football world after hearing about the awful incident.

Chelsea footballer Reece James sent his condolences to Charlie’s family and friends. He posted a photo of Charlie with the caption: “Rest in Peace Charlie” with a blue heart and a dove emoji.

The Chelsea Supporters Group also paid tribute to Charlie alongside a second fan who has passed.

They wrote: “The Chelsea Supporters Group are saddened to hear about the loss today of two young Chelsea fans, Charlie Naughton and Ben Crowe, familiar faces at Chelsea games.

“Our thoughts are now with the families and their friends at this sad time.”

A fellow England fan posted: “Such sad news on such an incredible day for the country.

“I hope the boys do it for Charlie on Saturday.”

Some fans have even called for a minutes silence to take place before England’s quarter final clash with Ukraine on Saturday (July 3).

One fan added: “There should be a one minute silence for Charlie this Saturday before the game.” and tagged the England football team.”
