About the Program

The Sunrise Project’s Auto Program works on both the EV transition and the automotive supply chain. This role focuses on the EV transition with a specific lens on accelerating the transition of medium and heavy duty trucks in a just and equitable way around the world. Of all road transport, MHD trucks are the most disproportionately polluting and the furthest behind. Despite being 3% of the vehicles on the road, they cause 30% of emissions and are a dominant cause of local air pollution that often harms marginalised countries and communities the most – and truck drivers themselves.

About The Role

As part of the Autos program, the EV Transition Campaigner will play a key role accelerating a just transition to zero emission medium and heavy duty trucks worldwide, with an initial focus on Europe, USA, and Brazil. The Campaigner will support the development and lead the implementation of campaigns targeting key truck industry stakeholders by engaging and mobilising people and groups across diverse geographies to create momentum around key moments of the campaign. Campaign strategies and tactics this position will coordinate include research, offline activism, digital campaigning, corporate engagement, and more. The Campaigner will also be central for developing and strengthening relationships and coordinating with partners across geographies. We’re looking for an experienced campaigner to help support and grow our existing work, while contributing new ideas on campaign strategy, tactics, and potential partners.

We support networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations.

About You

You are an experienced campaigner that has excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisation skills.

You have worked with diverse groups and know how to engage with them through a justice and equity lens.

You build strong relationships with diverse partners and stakeholders, internally and externally, and can have honest and sensitive conversations.

You are structured and organised and can be responsive when circumstances necessitate quick change.

You are a team player with the ability to work effectively across multiple time zones within a coalition environment to support diverse partner groups and maximise our collective impact.

You love to learn about new issues and develop new skills, for both digital and offline campaigning.

  • Create activist toolkits and other assets, with support from consultants/contractors/agencies where needed, to be used by movement partners and grassroots groups to execute actions at key targets.

  • Connect with other Sunrise Project campaigns, including Lead the Charge and Investor campaigns, to align on key mobilisation moments throughout the year.

  • Align own work with Sunrise’s mission, values and OKRs.
