Here’s one way a band can ease the burden of creating content for social media: let streaming services and celebrity fans take some of the strain.
Spotify has created a ‘Band Name Generator’ Instagram filter for British band Wet Leg, which people can use to create their own band name and share it in Instagram videos. According to Spotify, some of the band’s famous fans in the UK have already used the filter to help widen its reach.
This is part of a longer-term relationship between Spotify and Wet Leg as part of the streaming service’s ‘Radar’ program, which has also seen the pair collaborate on a short video series called ‘Searching for Mop Man’. Wet Leg is one of a group of UK-based Radar artists chosen for 2022 by Spotify, alongside PinkPantheress, Central Cee, Joy Crookes, and Griff.
