Animoca Brands Reveals $1.5 Billion Crypto and Blockchain Gaming AUM

Animoca Brands has announced significant growth in bookings during the first four months of 2022. The leading GameFi and metaverse investment company also revealed that it now has $1.5 billion worth of investments in crypto and blockchain games spreads across 340 projects.

The company said bookings and other income grew from $148 million in the December quarter to approximately $573 million in the first four months of 2022. Animoca mentioned that its booking numbers include sales, NFT sales including secondary sales, and other non-blockchain activities.

While Animoca Brands is popular for investing in NFTs and gaming projects, the company’s latest portfolio report showed that it has also invested in cryptocurrencies including $211 million worth of USDC, USDT, BUSD, and ETH. The company also holds third party tokens worth $659 million, while its cash balance stood at $98 million.

Overall, Animoca reported $4.2 billion in digital asset reserves, highlighting its financial stability amid a relatively choppy crypto market. The reserves are in the form of Animoca Brands’ digital tokens including SAND, QUIDD, PRIMATE, REVV, TOWER, GMEE, and others.

Animoca’s top portfolio products include its controlling stakes in The Sandbox, GAMEE, nWay, Blowfish Studios, Grease Monkey Games, REVV Motorsport, TOWER, Quidd, Lympo, and Forj.

Animoca’s massive portfolio growth over the last four months was driven by significant investments in AniCube, a joint unit established with Korean-based Cube Ent to further its goal of delivering the open metaverse to the masses.

The company also acquired Grease Monkey Games, Darewise, Eden Games, Notre Game, and Be Media as part of a broader strategy of expanding its blockchain gaming and Web3 capabilities.

Animoca also helped launch Yuga Labs’ ApeCoin after partnering with ApeCoin Dao following a $450 million fundraising by the Bored Ape Yacht Club creator.

Consequently, Animoca Brands co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu joined the board of ApeCoin Dao to steer the community’s Otherside metaverse developments.
